Christmas market in Marienplatz 

During the holidays Marienplatz hosts the quintessential Christmas market in Munich, the Munich Christkindlmarkt. Originally dating back to the 14th century, this bustling event transforms the city’s central square into a festive wonderland, illuminated with the glow of a towering Christmas tree. Over 100 stalls are set up around the square, offering an array of gifts and delectable treats. To add to the festive ambience, from Sundays through Thursdays, visitors are serenaded by the cosy tunes of bands performing from the town hall balcony.

Located right by Marienplatz is the Kripplermarkt (nativity market), a must-visit if you’re looking to set up your very own nativity scene!
