- Is it easy to get to other places outside of Hamburg? A lot of Hamburg day trips are easily accessible by public transport on the regional train or even the S-Bahn from Hamburg. Of course, if you have a car that makes things even easier!
Schwerin Castle – A fairytale castle
Germany has no shortage of fairy tale castles and Schwerin Castle is one of the best. Surrounded by water in a quiet and idyllic setting, Schwerin Castle is like a scene from a romantic novel. Not only is the castle worth seeing, but the surrounding Schwerin Old Town exudes a fairytale charm with its picturesque architecture and cobblestone streets. If you’re planning day trips from Hamburg, Schwerin Castle is a must-see.
- Schwerin Castle museum: You can explore the inside of Schwerin Castle yourself. Grab an audio guide and wander through 3 floors, immersing yourself in the ambience of how the castle would have once looked.
- Gardens and orangery: The surrounding gardens and lake are breathtaking and I loved walking around them. The orangery in particular was my favourite spot. The fountains and flower beds are meticulously looked after and are beautiful from every angle.
