What you need to know
- Is Cologne worth visiting for tourists? Definitely! Cologne is full of history and has lots of great outdoor spaces.
- What is the most visited place in Cologne? The most visited place in Cologne is undoubtedly the Cologne Cathedral.
- How many days in Cologne is enough? I think you could get to know Cologne quite well over a long weekend. I stayed for a week when I visited and found plenty to do!

What’s included?
In my tourist map of Cologne Germany, I’ve included over 50 of the city’s most must-visit destinations! They’re split into different categories depending on what you want to see
- Historical Sites – Cologne is packed with historical sites, many of which are situated in its Old Town. While the Cologne Cathedral steals the spotlight, there’s so much more to discover! From ancient city gates to stunning town halls and picture-perfect pastel buildings, exploring Cologne’s rich history is a must.
- General Tourist Attractions – Cologne is packed with amazing tourist attractions, so there’s plenty to keep you busy! My top pick has to be the Kölner Seilbahn where you can travel across the Rhine in cable cars! You could also explore Cologne Zoo, home to over 10,000 animals, or leave your own padlock on the famous Love Lock Bridge (Hohenzollern Bridge)!
- Parks – Cologne has some fantastic parks in and around the city centre. Rheinpark, set along the Rhine, is perfect for relaxing by the water and watching the world go by. But my personal favourite? Stadtpark—with its beautiful green spaces and a gorgeous farmers’ market!
- Museums / Art galleries – One of Cologne’s most famous museums has to be the Lindt Chocolate Museum—and yes, there are free samples! But if chocolate isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Whether you’re into cars, sports, art, or want to dive into Cologne’s history, there’s a museum for you!
- The Twelve Romanesque Churches – One of Cologne’s most distinctive features is its 12 Romanesque churches, arranged in a semicircle around the city centre and dating back to the year 1000. They’re a huge part of the city’s cultural heritage, and if you have time, visiting as many as possible is well worth it.
