What you need to know
- Is Stuttgart worth visiting? Yes! It’s such a beautiful city with plenty to see and do, as well as plenty of great day trips (including the Black Forest!)
- How many days do you need in Stuttgart? If you want to really explore the city and do some sightseeing in Stuttgart as well as head out on a few day trips, I recommend a week. However, if you’re looking to just relax in the city a long weekend here would be great!
- What is Stuttgart most known for? Stuttgart is known for it’s stake in the automobile industry. Both Porsche and Mercedes Benz are based here!

What’s included?
In my tourist map of Stuttgart Germany, I’ve included over 50 of the city’s most must-visit destinations! They’re split into different categories depending on what you want to see
- Historical Sites – Stuttgart’s history stretches back to the 10th century, and the city is filled with historic buildings. Neues Schloss (New Palace) stands in the heart of the city while just a stone’s throw away, you’ll find Altes Schloss (Old Castle), a former fortress dating back to 950 AD. Many historical landmarks are in Stuttgart city centre, making it easy to explore!
- General Tourist Attractions – Stuttgart has plenty of fantastic attractions to explore. My top picks? Wilhelma Zoo and the Markthalle – seriously, if you love food markets, this one is an absolute must-visit! The City Library is also a popular visit with it’s striking white interior.
- Museums / Art Galleries – Stuttgart is packed with museums and galleries to explore. Two of the most famous are the Porsche and Mercedes Benz museum Stuttgart – hardly surprising, given that both brands call the city home. If you’re after something more unusual, the Schweinemuseum (yes, the Pig Museum!) is a fun option. If you’re into art, check out the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, and for history lovers, there’s the Stuttgart State Museum of Natural History.
- Parks – One thing I noticed when I was in Stuttgart was how green it was. Trees lined walkways, beautiful flower beds were all over the streets, and there is no lack of parks to be found. My favourite? Killesberg Park! Climb the Killesberg Tower for insane city views, visit the petting farm, or just wander through its gardens; it’s another must-visit!
- Shopping – If you’re looking for some retail therpay in Stuttgart you won’t be disappointed. The central sopping hub is Königstraße, a 1.2km long street filled with shops and restaurants.
