Getting there

Getting to Nordpark Dusseldorf is very easy, here’s how:

  • By Car: There’s a car park on-site. The address is Kaiserswerther Str. 365, 40474 Düsseldorf, Germany.
  • By public transportation: Take the U78 or U79 to D-Nordpark/Aquazoo. The park is directly opposite the stop.

Japanischer Garten – Japanese Garden

The most well-known spot in Nordpark Dusseldorf is definitely the Japanese Garden. The garden, designed by Japanese architect Iwakii Ishiguro, has become a well-loved spot within the park. Experience tranquillity by the koi pond, waterfall, and perfectly manicured, cloud-like pine trees. Enjoy some peace as you listen to the water flow and watch the koi glide through the pond.

Water arches

Upon entering Nordpark Dusseldorf, the water arches immediately catch your eye. A 170m long stretch of water is lined by water fountains on either side creating a beautiful archway the entire way down. Alongside the water are beautiful flower beds and benches, the perfect place to stop and relax.

Wassergarten – Water Garden

Sitting in the Water Garden almost feels like sitting in ancient ruins. The stone pergola outlines a small pond with the most incredible display of wisteria taking over in late spring. This was my favourite peaceful spot in Nordpark Dusseldorf, despite its open walls it feels like its own little private area within the park.

Fontanenplatz – Fountain square

At the end of the water arches in Nordpark Dusseldorf is the Fountain Square. The fountain is surrounded by benches and if you sit and wait for a while you’ll see the fountain jets change heights as it comes to life. Every time I walked past here there was a busker playing music, setting the perfect ambience to sit and watch the waterway.

Amphitheatre

Easily missed, but if you head right once you reach the fountain from the water archway you’ll find the amphitheatre. It’s a quieter spot within the park but still as meticulously upkept with incredible flower displays lining its walkways. There are plenty of seating areas surrounding it, the perfect spot to relax off the beaten path.

Aquazoo Löbbecke

An interesting blend of museum, aquarium and zoo, Aquazoo Löbbecke is located within Nordpark Dusseldorf an is home to over 400 animal species. The Aquazoo mainly features marine animals as it aims to explore their origin and how they’ve evolved. There are some pretty scary spider habitats as well as a great crocodile exhibit you can walk above.
