What you need to know

  • What does the Berlin WelcomeCard cover? A standard Berlin WelcomeCard gives you free access to all public transport system in Berlin as well as over 180 discounts of up to 50% at many attractions, restaurants, bars, theatres and tours throughout Berlin.
  • Does the Berlin WelcomeCard include trains? The Berlin Welcome Card includes the use of all S-Bahn, U-Bahn and regional trains (Trains that begin with RE or RB)

What is the Berlin WelcomeCard?

The Berlin WelcomeCard is the official tourist ticket for the city of Berlin. It allows you free access to public transport across the city and offers great discounts of up to 50% at over 180 of Berlin’s best tourist attractions. It’s a fantastic money-saving option if you’re looking to hit up many of the city’s major sites.

Purchase of a Berlin WelcomeCard also comes with a free City guide and Berlin city map.

There are a few different Berlin Welcome Cards to choose from, here’s what they include:

Berlin WelcomeCard

The classic and most popular version of the Berlin WelcomeCard.

Public transportation:

  • Free use of public transportation through fare zones AB
  • Optional add-on of expanded free use of public transportation through far zones ABC (Includes Berlin Brandenburg Airport & Potsdam)
  • Option to buy a 72-hour or 6-day ticket which doesn’t include free public transportation use

Time scale options:

  • Cards available that last from 48 hours up to 6 days

Discounts:

  • Discounts at over 180 tourist attractions

Berlin WelcomeCard BASIC

This version doesn’t include free use of public transportation so is great value if you already have a travel card.

Public transportation:

  • Does not include free use of public transportation

Time scale options:

  • Available as a 72 hour or 6 day ticket only

Discounts:

  • Discounts at over 180 tourist attractions

Berlin WelcomeCard Museum Island

This version also included free access to Museum Island, one of Berlin’s most popular tourist spots!

Public transportation:

  • Free use of public transportation through fare zones AB
  • Optional add-on of expanded free use of public transportation through far zones ABC (Includes Berlin Brandenburg Airport & Potsdam)
  • Option to buy a 72-hour which doesn’t include free public transportation use

Berlin WelcomeCard All Inclusive

If you’re looking to go all out during your trip to Berlin, this is the card for you.

Public transportation:

  • Free use of public transportation through fare zone ABC (Includes Berlin Brandenburg Airport & Potsdam)

  • Cards available that last from 48 hours up to 6 days

Discounts:

  • Discounts at over 180 tourist attractions
  • Free entry to over 30 attractions
  • Includes free admission to all museums on Museum Island
  • Free access to the Hop-On Hop-Off Tour Bus for one day

Travel Discounts

Getting around the city is made so much simpler with a Berlin WelcomeCard (excluding Berlin WelcomeCard BASIC). The card acts as a public transport ticket and offers free travel on all buses, ferries, trams, S-Bahn, U-Bahn and regional trains within the tariff zones. You can find a map of the tariff zones here, if you’re staying within the city centre zones A&B will cover you.

Up to 3 children up to the age of 14 travel free with a card-holding adult making it a great choice for families!

You must validate your ticket before you’re able to use it. This involves stamping your ticket with the date and time, machines to do this can be found on U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations as well as on busses and trams. You only need to do this once before you use it for the first time.

Tourist attraction discounts

The Berlin WelcomeCard offers a 25-50% discount at most of Berlin’s major tourist attractions. Some highlights include the Television Tower, Berlin Cathedral, ASISI Panorama Berlin and the Berlin Dungeon.

If you want to explore the city there are also lots of discounts for sightseeing bus tours, guided walking tours as well as bike and boat tours.

There are also savings to be had at participating restaurants, bars and cafes as well as theatres and some shops!

The All Inclusive ticket is the only one which also offers children’s tickets. Children are classed as being aged between 3 and 14 years old.
