I can’t tell you how much I love Munich. While it’s famous for its beer gardens and Bavarian charm, there’s so much more to discover! Figuring out where to start can be overwhelming, therefore I’ve created my Munich Tourist Map. It highlights all the top attractions, thus making it easier for you to plan your own adventure!

FREE Munich tourist map: Your ULTIMATE guide to the city

What you need to know

  • Is Munich good for tourists? Munich is a fantastic destination for tourists! The city is packed with incredible sights, guided tours, beautiful architecture, and plenty to do—all without too much walking. Plus, it offers some truly epic day trips!
  • Is there a Munich tourist card? There are 2! You can get the Munich Card or Munich City Pass. Both offer free use of public transport and discounted tourist attraction entry.
  • What is the most visited place in Munich? Marienplatz, Munich’s central square would be the city’s most popular spot. The English Garden and the Residenz are probably close behind.
  • Is Munich a safe place for tourists? I never had any issues in Munich, but like any big city, it’s best to stay cautious. Keep your belongings close and stick to central areas.

What’s included?

On my Munich tourist map, I’ve included over 50 of the most must-see spots in the city! They’re split into the following categories depending on what you want to see and do:

  • Historical Sites – Munich is full of incredible historic sites. From Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) to Nymphenburg Palace and even the Olympic Park. The Bavarian Capital is full of history waiting to be explored.
  • Museums / Art Galleries – Munich is full of museums and art galleries, offering something for every interest. Whether you’re fascinated by Ancient Egyptian artefacts, curious about technology through the ages, or drawn to a particular art style, you’ll find a spot that captivates you.
  • General Tourist Attractions – Climb the Olympic Tower, see the animals at the zoo and check out the botanical gardens. Munich has a great range of tourist attractions to visit!
  • English Garden Highlights – One of the largest inner city parks in the world, the English Garden (Englischer Garten) has a lot to see. I’ve pointed out all the highlights on my Munich tourist map!
  • Churches – Munich is home to some truly breathtaking churches, each a masterpiece of architecture. Even if you’re not religious, I highly recommend visiting a few!

How to use it

My Munich tourist map is super simple to use and save to your phone! Here’s some tips:

  • Click on each of the map markers to open more information about that spot
  • You can expand the map legend in the top left corner to see all the individual locations and groups. You can also select and deselect certain groups if you’re not interested in them.

Saving the map to your phone

If you want to save it to your phone just tap the star icon next to ‘Munich Tourist Map’ at the top of the map. This will save it to your Google Maps.

To open it on your phone just open your Google Maps app and tap ‘You’ at the bottom of the screen. Then select ‘Maps’ and a list of your saved maps will come up.
